Escape to La Torretta Lake Resort and Spa

Sometimes life can be so hectic and at some point we all just need a break. A time to relax, take a deep breath, and re-center ourselves.

And while a 10 day trip to somewhere far away certainly offers the promise of all that…finding the extra funds for a vacation like that isn’t always easy.

That’s why, when I visited La Torretta Lake Resort and Spa recently, I was so thrilled to see that they offer an escape for the whole family…at an affordable price. The best part? La Torretta is just a short drive north of Houston which makes getting away easier than ever for those nearby.

Upon arriving at the resort, you are welcomed by large windows and palms in the lobby. The clean, effortless decor throughout the resort sets the mood just right.

Music from the piano bar just above the lobby helps to keep the relaxed vibe going on weekends. And, if you’re hungry, not to worry! You can have sushi made to order at Yoi and sent to your table while you enjoy the tunes.

Guestrooms are spacious and well appointed. Balconies on the tower offer great views of the resort water park and Lake Conroe.

The water park is a definite standout at the resort and it offers something for everyone. There is a hot tub, an adults only pool, a lazy river, a water works area for kids (complete with a large bucket that empties every few minutes), water slides, and even a separate area for the smallest swimmers in the family.

There are also plenty of shady spots for parents to sit and relax while they watch their kiddos splash about…a huge plus in my book!

And after you’ve spent the day working up a huge appetite while swimming, the delicious food at Lakeside is sure to please.

After an evening at the Chef’s Table in Lakeside personal standouts for me were the Petit Filet Steak (OMG, so good!), the La Torretta Salad, and the bread pudding. Heath, the restaurant manager at Lakeside told me there is no greater compliment for him than pleasing his guests so much that they return again and again to dine with him.

Of course, to make any getaway EXTRA special…a trip to The Spa is a must. Whether it’s a hot stone massage to unwind after a day of golf (they even offer a special one just for golfers!) or their unique “Floatation Journey” experience where all your cares drift away while you float in a tub of purified 95.6 degree water filled with over 800 lbs of epsom salts, the spa here is sure to help melt your stress away.

In addition to the beautiful views of Lake Conroe and all the fun it has to offer, La Torretta’s location makes it easy to access other nearby points of interest such as The Woodlands (to the South about 15 minutes on I-45) with great dining, shopping, and nightlife. And for all those history buffs out there, Huntsville (to the North about 30 minutes on I-45) with antiquing, the home of Sam Houston and the “Big Sam” statue, and the Texas Prison Museum.

This summer is the Summer of 99 at La Torretta…$99 dollars that is. With weekday room rates starting at $99, 2 rounds of golf for $99, a 50 minute Swedish massage for $99, or dinner for 2 at Lakeside for only $99 (includes entree choice for 2, 1 appetizer to share, 2 side dishes, and 1 bottle of house wine) your perfect and affordable summer vacation is just a click away!
