On Resilience & Self-Doubt #autism

Although it doesn’t look like it, Jackson was absolutely thrilled for his first day back-to-school. For me, it was a very emotional day, for several reasons. At the end of last school year I made the decision during his ARD meeting (a meeting where special needs teachers meet with parents to discuss a students progress and make plans for the future) that he would not be attending ESY (Extended School Year) this summer. I made this decision based on the {Read More}

A quiet Summer evening

It rained almost all day yesterday…and the day before that. To be honest, prolonged nasty weather has a horrible effect on my mood. It makes me…well, nasty. But by evening it seemed the rain was done for awhile..and the sun even tried to peek through the clouds for a bit so we took advantage and headed over to the local splash pad. (see how much Jackson has grown since we went last year) It was cool, quiet and the perfect {Read More}

Feather Your Nest – A Gracious Plenty Review & Giveaway #FeatherYourNest

The day this little box arrived in a package in my house, I literally tore it open in excitement. Why you ask? Because I had ordered a Floral Monogrammed Necklace from A Gracious Plenty and I couldn’t wait to get it around my neck!  The first awesome thing about my package from them was that my name was included on the outer wrapping of my necklace…I love little touches like this that make me feel extra special. My necklace itself {Read More}

Feather Your Nest – Preparing for a Healthy Baby #FeatherYourNest

It’s always been said that baby’s run on their own time, so for an expectant mother eagerly awaiting their newborns arrival, the excitement of waiting and guessing for labor needs an outlet. The best an expectant mother can do is to keep her home and body prepared so that when the baby finally makes his/her debut, mom can go into the delivery room relaxed and ready. When it comes to making preparations, it’s a good idea to start with the {Read More}

Lost in a fog of sickness and an announcement!

Hi everyone, I have been VERY ill over the last week or so and am obviously behind on many things, including posting here. I’m hoping to get rest and recover over the weekend, so things will get back to normal next week. I’m excited to announce that coming soon to LLF will be a great month long “Feather Your Nest” Baby Shower Event in honor of my friend Rachel (expecting her first baby in May) which will feature reviews & {Read More}

Because you can’t be strong all the time #autism

Having a sick child is hard…even if it’s just a cold or the flu…working to get your little one better can be exhausting and do a number on your nerves. And as a parent, that’s how it’s supposed to be. You worry and hope and pray and give medicine at 2 in the morning until they are better because it’s what’s in your heart. My friends have often remarked about my good composure as a mother. When I have admitted {Read More}

Of crumbs and rocks and winter ickies

This past Saturday Jackson and I went to the park. After a LONG week of ER visits, dehydration, and high fever his relentless virus finally seemed to let up enough so that we could get out of the house. And gosh was I glad. It’s been gray and nasty here for several weeks and it’s really starting to weigh on my heart. Add in worry about a VERY sick 4 year old and you get one frazzled mama. The kind {Read More}

A look back on 2011. #autism

January February March April May June July August September October November December What an amazing year for my sweet boy. I am so moved at how much he progresses and grows all the time! I have such high hopes for Jackson in 2012…I can’t wait to see what this year brings.

Proof that I have a tech savvy preschooler…

I love going through my camera roll on my phone and finding little gems like this one. They are really great for laugh…and they touch my heart. : )

Children’s Museum Fun in photos #autism

We went to the Children’s Museum of Houston this past weekend and Jackson had a blast. The last time we went was January of 2010 and Jackson looked like this: I’m only slightly weepy that he is a whole head taller now (sniff,sniff). The progress Jackson has made in the last year with his development is astounding. Showing off his planking skills. I am so pleased with the Early Child Autism Program he is attending here in the school district….every {Read More}
